Omkara’s unique Bharata Natyam curriculum has been optimized to deliver the purest experience of Bharata Natyam, accentuated by the culture of our 21st-century society. Rooted in tradition—one of the most spiritual and celebrated dance forms of India—Omkara’s choreographies juxtapose ancient practices with avant-garde interpretations.
Accelerated Course Structure
Omkara offers a unique, 5-year accelerated Bharata Natyam course that condenses the traditional 7-year program into a fast-paced yet rigorous curriculum. Students receive weekly 1-hour classes for 12 months each year. Progress is evaluated twice annually, with a Certificate of Completion awarded after each successful year.
Bharata Natyam and Beyond
Our program extends beyond technique to include cultural, historical, and mythological dimensions of Indian Classical Dance. Students are trained not only in movement but also in vocal recitals to master the narrative and musical elements of the art. We believe true mastery requires deep connection to the form’s cultural significance.
